Pool Fence FAQs

When is the best time to put up a barrier on a new pool?

Building a pool can be a bit of a hassle, between no shows, surprises, and weather delays it is hard to know exactly when to schedule your pool fence installation. The very last step for almost every in ground pool is the plaster wash, once the workers have washed the plaster they will leave a hose in the pool for the startup fill. In my experience, immediately after the plaster is done and the water is filling, the pool fence can go up!

If we are able to schedule your pool fence installation around this event, we can stay out of the way of the construction crews (and avoid any damage they may accidentally cause trying to work around your pool fence), but more importantly, it will allow us to have a barrier before the water is there, and your children will not have any time where they remember the pool without the barrier.

At Life Saver Pool Fence of Harris/Ft Bend County we carry popular options in stock, so that we can be as responsive as possible and help meet sensitive and sometimes changing timelines to help keep your children safe around your new pool!

The pool fence should be at least 4 feet high.

Are your swimming pool poles made from fiberglass?

We stopped using fiberglass poles, our poles are now made of 6063-T6 aircraft grade aluminum. Pool poles made from fiberglass are poorly suited for pool fences, which operate on tension. When the fence sways due to the fiberglass’ flexibility, cracks and splinters begin to form, which can eventually tear the pole apart. Fiberglass pool poles are also more difficult to install than other types of pool poles, and they are not as strong or durable as other materials like 6063-T6 aircraft grade aluminum.

It is very rare for us to hit buried lines. We try to be mindful of the location of drain lines and surface level water features around the pool when laying out the fence before installation. In the event that we do damage any buried utilities, we will take care of the repairs.

What if I want the pool fence to connect to the house or privacy fence, and use them as part of my pool barrier?

We can tie into existing barriers by attaching an eye for the safety latch on the side of your fence or house.
